Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge
The J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is known for its abundant bird life.  The refuge's visitor/education center features interactive exhibits and a hands-on area for children.

Tarpon Bay Rec Area is the place to tour the Wildlife Refuge by kayak, canoe, bike, pontoon boat or standup paddleboard.  There are also guided tours where you'll see birds, dolphins, manatees, and alligators.

Bailey Matthews Shell Museum has shell exhibits as well as habitats, rare specimens, fossils and common Southwest Florida shells. The learning lab has a hands-on play area for kids as well as displays, games, and a tank with native mollusks.

CROW animal rehabilitation center is one of the country's leading wildlife rehabilitation facilities.  A variety of youth programs are offered to educate children, including the "Rescue Me" series, which emphasizes science, nature and wildlife through exciting activities.
